Sorry for the lack of pictures, but hopefully the last two recipes I posted will make up for it....?!
Day 1
Weigh-in: 216.4 (a 4.4 pound lost from last week)! I'll take it!
Ate:
Breakfast - a peach and some watermelon
Lunch - Leftovers from Date Night (chicken enchilada cooked with corn tortilla and some orange chicken)
Dinner - No real dinner, just snacking
Snacks - Fritos corn chips, cheetos, sunchips, snow cone (bad day for me) Back on tomorrow!
How I felt: I feel pretty good today. I think it was a good idea to let myself enjoy dinner last night even though I am in the restrictive phase of this new lifestyle. It was good for me mentally (and I controlled it! Huge victory!) and it was good for me nutritionally because I don't think I got the nutrition I needed the few days before. I'm back on today and feeling strong, optimistic, and just trying to stay cool. It is so hot (going to be 109 all week)! I think I'll try a swim class this week.
Day 2
I'm only going to weigh on Wed., Fri., and Sunday for a little while and I am going to post some more pictures.
My TMJ acted up this weekend so I am having a hard time eating well. Fruits and veggies require a lot of chewing.
Breakfast: A pop-tart! Ug. I can't believe it. So lame. Ok, get over it, do better for the rest of the day.
Snack: A few bites of watermelon, water, ibuprofen for my jaw
Lunch: Steamed mixed veggies (steamed very soft), two small turkey sausage patties, three thin slices of mixed cheese.
Dinner: Chicken Tacos
Snack: Junior Mints (we went to the movies).
Day 3
I didn't weigh, didn't go to the gym, and didn't do well with eating. I don't even know what I ate, so there is no log. Lame! I feel terrible having "failed" again! But, I'm not calling this a fail - it is just a bump in the road. I'll get back on the road again and keep on going. I have to trust the process.
Day 4 - Wednesday
I was worried about weighing today due to the date night on Saturday, and the eating on Day 3, but I was pleasantly surprised.
Weighed - 216.2 (down 0.2 from Sunday morning)
Ate:
Breakfast - Shake with fruit
Snack - water and skinny cow bar
Lunch - Shake with fruit, some frito chips
Dinner -
Can you tell I was on the go today. No gym, but lots of errands.....
Ok, last half of the week was terrible. I didn't update my log and I have no idea what I ate. Man, having a food addiction is so HARD! I didn't believe that was actually a thing until I realized how hard it was to eat well even when I had all the will power and reasoning in the world! Let me tell you, it IS a thing. It is so HARD, but I am determined not to let an addiction (to anything) run and/or ruin my life! Here's to this week! I'll be with Spicy, too! Yipee!!!

Week 1 Log
Day 1:
Weighed - 220.8 pounds
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit and no sugar PB
Lunch - Artichoke Chicken, Salad, 1/4 C. penne pasta, strawberries, water
Dinner - Refried Beans and Cheese, milk
Snacks - Popcorn, a few sips of husbands smoothie
How I felt: Nothing too noticeable today. I did have a slight headache, but I think that is because I didn't have enough water. I wasn't hungry, but around bed time I really wanted something sweet. I still felt a bit bloated/uncomfortable from my dinner and dessert on Saturday.
Day 2:
Weighed - 220.2
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit and no sugar PB
Lunch - Ground turkey, refried beans, cheese
Dinner - Teriyaki Steak strips, steamed veggies
Snacks - Steamed milk with sugar free hazelnut flavoring, pepper jack cheese
How I felt: Cravings galore today! I really want sweets today. Chocolate milk, chocolate covered caramel, Reeses, pretty much anything chocolate. I also had a craving for cake pops! I made potatoes for my husband with dinner tonight and wanted just one bite! I caught myself rationalizing that one bite wouldn't hurt. Luckily, I told myself that the point of the 4 week restricted phase 1 is to reset the body. The point is to kick the cravings and withdraws, get blood sugars where they are supposed to be, and I knew that even a bite would have an adverse effect on my insulin (what I'm working to correct). So, I didn't have even one bite (although I did pout a little). Right before bed I wanted a nice, hot dinner roll. No headaches today (I drank more water). Feel pretty good.
Day 3:
Weighed - 215.6 What!!!???!!!
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit and no sugar PB
Lunch -Broccoli, mushrooms, salad dressing, four slices turkey lunch meat, pepper jack cheese
Dinner - Cauliflower crust pizza (didn't turn out great and I know what I'll do differently next time)
Snacks - Peach, sugar free PB, movie popcorn w/light butter (date night and I was super hungry - healthiest thing available where we were; we saw Monsters University - I recommend it!)
How I felt: Went to the gym today and did strength training. I once heard the biggest loser people do their strength training at the beginning of each week (after weekly weigh-ins) and do cardio before each weigh in....who knows. Felt amazing this morning! (May have something to do with the weight loss.) I was a little hungry today. I'll have to eat beans tomorrow - I think that may be the secret to not getting hungry! I also had a headache in the evening (not enough water).
Day 4:
Weighed - 216.2 (more like what I expected to be at today). Gained 0.6 from yesterday's weigh in, but I am looking at averages here not day to day. I'm weighing each day just to keep tabs.
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein shake with fruit and no sugar PB, two cubes of cantelope
Lunch - Ground turkey, black beans
Dinner - Panda Express: Steamed veggies, Sweetfire Chicken, and a few bites of Teriyaki Chicken and Orange Chicken
Snacks - PB, 1/2 cantelope
How I felt: Went to the gym and did the eliptical for 25 minutes, high knees, butt kickers, and fast feet drills, foam rolling for my legs (the muscles are pulling on my knee). Feel pretty normal as far as my energy level this morning. I'm hoping that in a few weeks, I wake up and have lots of energy. I was not hungry today at all! Maybe my theory about the beans at lunch is true!?! I'll eat beans at lunch tomorrow too and more veggies/salad. I didn't do well with eating veggies today.
Day 5:
Weighed - 216.2 (This is why they tell you not to weigh every day). :)
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit and no sugar PB
Lunch - Salad with beans, mushrooms, broccoli, and olives; a piece of cauliflower crust pizza
Dinner - Oatmeal
Snacks - 1/2 cantelope
How I felt: I am tired this morning. Didn't sleep well. It's hot. Foam rolling is a serious love/hate relationship. It hurts so badly that I actually sweat while doing it, but afterwards my knee pain is totally gone!!! I need to do it more often so it starts to not hurt as badly. I did 30 minutes on a bike today at the gym. Good sweat. I got hungry at about 9:30 at night and wasn't sure what to do about it. So, I drank some water and went to bed.
Day 6:
Weighed - 215.8 (average of a pound a day)
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit
Lunch - Taco Bell: Taco Salad (just ate the salad not the shell) and pintos & cheese
Dinner - Chili's: Monetary Chicken and Steamed Broccoli
Snacks - None
How I felt: Tired again today. I didn't fall asleep until midnight (hubby isn't home) and was awake before 7 (I do best on 8 full hours of sleep). Worried because my hubby just changed our plans for today and now I am going to be camping (which I despise), outside in the heat (my body gets lethargic and I get cranky above 83ish), around people I don't know (I have major social anxiety so people who first meet me think I'm a snob usually, but it is just because I am trying to remember to breath and stay calm, so I don't talk very much), and I don't know what the plan is for food. I'm worried about staying on track AND having enough to eat. Considering my choices (we had to leave the campground to go get food because the food that was there was not on my list of good choices), I think I did really well. However, I don't think I ate enough because I was hungry most of the day. I also had terrible cravings for sweets (mainly chocolate) and pizza! I wanted anything BUT what I ordered for food. Nothing was very satisfying because my cravings were so bad.
Day 7:
Weighed - 216 exactly (need to drink more water)
Ate:
Breakfast - Protein Shake with fruit
Lunch - Turkey sausage patty, slice of cheddar cheese, an egg
Dinner - Hubby took me out! We went to Cheesecake Factory. I ordered well and allowed myself to have a virgin strawberry daiquiri. It was amazing!!!
Snacks - Watermelon, veggies (broccoli/mushrooms/steamed variety)
How I felt: It is just hot!!!! So hard to want to eat well and prep food. Oh well.
Final results for the first week are 4.4 pounds lost! I am so happy with that number because it is a great number!

What Am I Doing?
Seriously, I have no idea. Let me start out by saying that Spicy looks amazing and SOOOO cute, right? Wow, mama! Keep up the great work. You inspire me.
Back to my post:
I tell myself all the time, I'm gonna start over and finish this time. Lose weight, so happy, celebrate, sabotage, gain weight, sad and mad, repeat! Story of my life! UG!
Seriously, I don't know how I could have a stronger reason to get healthy.
1. May be my only chance at being able to conceive and have a child (my one dream in life that I have wanted since I can remember; I always said that I wanted to be a mom when I grew up).
As if that weren't reason enough, here are more reasons:
2. I want to feel good! I want to walk up some stairs without being winded, I want to be strong and athletic, I want to be confident about how I look.
3. I DON'T want Diabetes (which runs in the family)
4. I want to live a long, healthy life with my hubby and siblings. A LONG life.
5. I want to actually beat this disease! Yes, I just called obesity a disease! That is what it feels like - fighting a battle that never gives up. I don't want it to control my life!
I have all of these amazing reasons that one would think would be enough to keep me doing what I'm supposed to do. Somehow, I always find myself thinking, I'll start again tomorrow (or Sunday, or next week).
My husband gets frustrated because he wants to support any decision I make and since I am so flip-floppy, back and forth, he never knows how to support. Should he remind me I'm trying to be healthy? Should he just go with the flow? He never says how frustrated he is but I can imagine it must be difficult. UG. He doesn't read this but let the record show that I am sorry.
I have to stop beating myself up about it, I know. So, instead of making all of the promises to myself and family just to have to say why I didn't, I'm just going to work on doing better. I have a secret plan in mind that I want to do. I want to do it without telling anybody and then when I accomplish it, I won't have frustrated anybody along the way.....then again maybe not. I got a diet plan (from somebody who knows somebody who is/has gone through fertility treatment at a fertility clinic in our area (one that I would love to go to but can't afford). This diet plan is the first thing they have MOST of their clients do right away.
I'm not going to give details here (right now). I want to do it, on my own, and then report midway through and at the end. I'll keep you posted and pray for me to have success.
By the way, I made it to the gym three times last week and twice this week. Small, but huge, accomplishments.

Summer Goals/Challenge
My mom, who is a personal trainer, challenged me to read this article and set some goals. She and I are accountable to each other. I am also accountable to Spicy, and my other sister who is doing this with us as well.
Read the article here: I Know What to Do...
We each set our own goals. Here are mine:

We each set our own goals. Here are mine:
1. Go to the gym three days a week.
2. Walk down the lane and back (1 mile total) once a week.
3. Foam roll once a week.
4. Starchy carbs one meal/day
5. If having sweets, eat less than what is served.
I know these are goals I can do. The only one that is giving me a bit of a stress is number 4. But, I am confident I CAN do it. I just have to plan.
My overreaching goal for the summer is to get into "one"derland!

Family Visit
We had such a great time visiting. This picture is all of my siblings and me. My brother (who is leaving for two years) looks amazing! He is so tall he rests his head easily on top of mine (I'm pretty short though). We decided that we all want to be fit by the time he returns. I told him I was going to lose 100 pounds! I've got my work cut out for me. Wish me the best and wish my brother the best on his time in El Salvador and Belize!
Spicy is the one in the yellow and blue, I'm the one in the blue and purple.

What has been going on?
It's Spunky again! I know it has been a long time since I've posted. I was keeping track of my walking and that was getting super boring and actually causing minor injuries because I was trying to increase my workouts so fast. So, I got a gym membership! I did really well the first two weeks (90-120 minutes 6 days each week). Going after teaching all day and coaching cheerleading put me home at about 8:30pm. But, I am determined. Then, I pulled my hip flexer muscle while coaching and have been unable to do anything but daily needs for two weeks! UG!
This week, I am back in the gym. Back to late nights. Back to it. I'm going to start slow this week (45 minutes) and listen to my body. I'll write again later this week.

3.37 more and then some!
My walking total is 43.67 miles.
Last week I also did three intense short workouts.
Today, I went to the gym (30 day free membership! sweet!) and walked 30 minutes, biked 30 minutes, and did the arm bike for 30 minutes! Whew! My whole body got a workout with cardio!
I also weighed after my workout; that will be the new weigh in.
Back up to 219, but I am determined NOT to ever see 220 again and plan to lose 3-5 pounds this week. So, easy come easy go! That is my philosophy.
How are you doing?

2.3 More Miles and Another Book
Just finished walking 2.3 miles. Total: 37.3/100.
I finished reading "Wicked Lovely" yesterday. This was a hard book for me to get in to. I have tried multiple times and I finally gave it my rule. What is my rule? Read the first five chapters before I quit reading (unless it is terrible language/sex/etc.). I read the first five chapters and then was interested to know what happened. So I finished the book in a day. That means it couldn't have been that boring, right?!
No, it wasn't that boring; however, I don't think I'll be reading the rest of the series. Why? It just wasn't THAT great. I've read some pretty great books and this isn't one I think I'll even remember the title in a few months. There was also more language and intimate desires than I prefer.
Rating: 2.5/5 stars
Characters: The characters are ok. They clearly have something driving each of them which stays constant, but I didn't fall in love with any of them. Towards the end, I did start liking the main character better, because she became a stronger version of herself.
Language: Two uses of the F-word, a few uses of the B-word, one instance of text speak cussing. Even one f-bomb is too much for me!
Intimacy: Nothing described in detail, but it is clear that this is the goal of one of the characters, and a few of them have desires that are described. Moments that would have led to intimacy, but get interrupted for one reason or another, are described. A character finds another's piercings and tattoos arousing. Characters are referred to as lovers, consorts, etc.
Violence/Gore: Some. The antagonist murders and hurts characters, with some of it described along with the pain. Descriptions of screaming and agony.
Suggested reader age: I would say it is not worth your time. I wouldn't want my children reading this, or my teenager. Like I said, even as an adult, this doesn't meet a high standard of morality or values.

32 and a good book
Walking total: 32 miles/100.
I read a good book last night/this morning. I didn't want to stop until the end and now I want to go buy the next two in the series! The book is "Matched" by Allyson Condie. If you liked Hunger Games, but wish there wasn't so much violence, you will enjoy this book!
Characters: Strong- the characters are well developed.
Plot: Intriguing - like I said, I want the rest! I read it in about 5 hours because I just didn't want to stop.
Language: Clean - not a single cuss word or inuindo
Sex/Violence: Clean - two instances of a kiss (sweet, not detailed), feelings of loving somebody. The antagonist in the story does things that I believe are terrible and wrong, but none of it is described in detail and it must be inferred by the reader (other than a mention or two of poisoning people).
The nest book in the series is "Crossed" and I need it! LOL!
Recommendation: Yes! If I had children, I would allow my 12+ year old to read this book. I may even go as low as 10 years depending on the child and my relationship to the child. I definitely recommend this book for any adult who likes a sweet, if somewhat rebellious story!

30 miles down!
I said I would be at 40 miles by the end of this week and I started it off today by meeting my daily goal (2 miles). I actually went 2.2 which will probably be the norm for now, so I'll be at or above 40 miles after Saturday's walk/jog.
I have to go to the dentist in an hour and I'm dreading every minute of it. UG! Does anybody out there want to take my place? I'll trade you! Anything!

27.8
My total at the end of this week is 27.8 miles.
I'm on my spring break now, so I plan on hitting 40 miles by next Saturday. That is 2 miles each day plus a tiny bit. Easy to do while I'm home! So excited!
